Stone Ridge Commons Lottery Instructions for 2008-2009
Any student living on campus during the Spring 2008 can participate in the Stone Ridge Commons Lottery if they have fewer than 78 earned credits. If you have more than 78 credits you must email the Director of Housing, Tony Cecere, at arcece@ship.edu for permission to participate. If approved the Housing Office will add your name to the lottery.
Four separate Lotteries will be held. They are Return to Same Room, One Bedroom, Four Bedroom, and Two Bedroom. Lottery times and rules are posted in the room selection process calendar.
You may go online to info.ship.edu, Student SIS, enter your secure information, and select Housing. You will find the latest housing news and a button labeled "Go to Housing". Select this button to see the new online housing information. In this area you will find your MyHousing Overview, Personal Preferences, Room Preferences, Roommate Requests, and Room Selection. You will not need to use the personal preferences or room preference buttons for selections because you will be matching roommates you know and picking the actual room if it is available.
My Housing Overview gives a summary of current information. Students will see general information, current room assignment if applicable, roommates, future roommate information, and the housing lottery information. You should see the Stone Ridge Commons lotteries listed here. If you do not see this and think you should be eligible to participate in the lottery please contact the Housing Office, Old Main 210.
On the left hand side of the screen students will find these navigation buttons:
Roommate Requests - Use this area to enter roommate requests. After students enter a roommate that the system can uniquely identify the system will indicate if that person has also selected the 1st student as a roommate. If the 1st roommate sees the 2nd roommate's name and a message "Does not Match" it means the 2nd roommate has not entered a preference for the 1st roommate. When the 2nd roommate picks the 1st roommate both students will see "Match = YES". Once the requests match any student in the matching group may choose a room in a room lottery. Roommate requests may only be entered when all students are members of the same room lottery and the roommate selection time is active. The system will indicate if it cannot find a student or it is not time to choose a roommate. Stone Ridge Lotteries are set up as must fill the room so you must have the number of matching roommates necessary to fill the room or you will not see the room (apartment) during the room selection process. Please come to the Housing Office for assistance if you are not able to complete your roommate match. No e-mails or phone calls will be accepted.
Room Selection - Students who are members of an active lottery may select a room during the time noted on the MyHousing Overview screen. Roommates must match in order to pick a room during the lottery. You must have the number of roommate necessary to fill an apartment or the room will not show as available if the lottery is a must fill the room (apartment). The first roommate to select a room will pull in the other matching roommates. Make sure your roommates are in agreement before selecting a room. Room selections are final. The room assignment will appear on the Overview (MyHousing) screen.
Once you have selected a Stone Ridge room you will receive an email. The email will give you instructions in order to complete your housing agreement and pay a $100 deposit. All students must sign the agreement and pay the deposit by the deadlines or your entire group will be in jeopardy of losing the apartment.
