Return to Same Room Instructions 2008-2009
Returning students who have signed a housing agreement and have a roommate may participate in the Return to Same Room Lottery if they have not already selected a room. The lottery will run between 8:00 a.m. on February 18, 2008 and February 19th at 4:00 p.m. Students who do not have a roommate can not participate.
Students may go online at info.ship.edu, Student SIS, enter your secure information, and select Housing. Students will find the latest housing news and a button labeled "Go to Housing". Select this button to see the new online housing information. In this area you will find your MyHousing Overview, Personal Preferences, Room Preferences, Roommate Requests, and Room Selection.
My Housing Overview gives a summary of current information. Students will see general information, current room assignment if applicable, roommates, future roommate information, and the housing lottery information. Students should see their listing in the Same Room Lottery.
On the left hand side of the screen students will find these navigation buttons:
Roommate Requests - Use this area to enter roommate requests. After students enter a roommate that the system can uniquely identify the system will indicate if that person has also selected the 1st student as a roommate. If the 1st roommate sees the 2nd roommate's name and a message "Does not Match" it means the 2nd roommate has not entered a preference for the 1st roommate. When the 2nd roommate picks the 1st roommate both students will see "Match = YES". Roommate requests may only be entered when all students are members of the same room lottery and the roommate selection time is active (TBA). The system will indicate if it cannot find a student or it is not time to choose a roommate. Please come to the Housing Office for assistance by TBA if you are not able to complete your roommate match. No e-mails or phone calls will be accepted.
Room Selection - Once the requests match either student in the matching group may choose a room in a room lottery. The first student to pick a room will pull the matching student into his/her same room. If the students are currently living in two different rooms the roommate with the preferred room should pick the room. All room selections are final.
