January 2008

Dear Parent or Guardian,

We are pleased to host your son or daughter in University housing this academic year. Please be assured that we will have accommodations for current residents who submit timely requests to return to university housing for the 2008-2009 year.

We would like to continue providing our services to your student. Below is important information about deadline dates for obtaining University housing in residence halls, Seavers Complex, or Stone Ridge Apartments for the 2008-2009 year.

Current resident students will be given the opportunity to reserve a space in university housing for the 2008-2009 academic year by signing a Shippensburg University Housing Agreement online and by paying a one hundred-dollar ($100.00) room deposit. Stone Ridge Commons approved residents must complete agreements and pay the $100 deposit on January 29-30, 2008. Traditional halls and Seavers Complex sign agreements between January 21st and 31st and pay deposits the week of February 4-8.

The agreement is for the entire nine-month academic year (August 2008 - May 2009), meaning that enrolled students are responsible for full payment of the residence hall room fee each semester. If the student will need a one semester housing agreement due to December 2008 graduation or academic reasons, a Request for a One-Semester Housing Agreement form must be submitted prior to January 31, 2007. One semester students will not be eligible for Stone Ridge Commons.

Your son or daughter must sign an online agreement. He/she will receive an e-mail with instructions to complete the deposit by February 1, 2008. He/she must personally bring a copy of the e-mail and $100 payment to the Student Accounts Office. The University will not accept or process any deposits mailed to University offices. We will not be able to process a deposit before the housing agreement has been signed online. If your son or daughter does not receive an email he/she is responsible for contacting the Housing Office for an e-mail in order to make the deposit by the deadlines.

Checks should be made payable to Shippensburg University. Payments can also be made in cash or with a VISA or MasterCard. University housing will not be guaranteed for students who have not signed a housing agreement and paid the deposit by 4:00 p.m. on February 8, 2008. The agreement is for a space in university housing and does not guarantee any specific building or room. Students who have not signed an agreement or paid a deposit cannot participate in room selections.

Details about the housing process and information about housing is available at our web site at: http://housing.ship.edu/returning/process%202008-2009/index.html. Your son or daughter will not receive written materials. All information regarding the 2008-2009 process will be available on the website by January 1, 2008.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me. I also welcome any comments or suggestions you may have concerning our residence halls. Thank you and we look forward to hosting your son or daughter again!

Sincerely,

Tony Cecere
