The "Can / Cannot" Bring List
This is a partial listing. All items are subject to the regulation in the Swataney, the student handbook.
The following items are allowed in University Housing. Incoming students should confer with their roommate about who will bring which item.
- One compact refrigerator/freezer unit (less than 3 amps, max. 4.3 cubic feet) per room
- One microwave (no more than 750 watts) per room
- 12-cup max. drip coffee maker
- Window fans
- Televisions (recommend 10 foot coax cable)
- Stereos
- Computers (see resnet for requirements and ethernet cables)
The following items are not permitted:
- Hot pots
- Electric appliances
- Electric heaters
- Toasters/toaster ovens
- Potpourri burners
- Grills (George Foreman type, etc.)
- Candles
- Lofts
- Extension cords
- Air conditioners
- The use of double-sided or duct tape is not permitted. We suggest using poster putty or 3M removeable adhesive tape.
The following items are recommended:
- Analog single-line telephone **(Free voicemail can be requested)
- Bedding (standard TWIN sheets, pillow case, mattress pad)
- Blanket
- Writing Utensils
- Towels/ Wash Cloths
- Face Soap
- Toothpaste and Toothbrush
- Hangers
- Rain Gear or Umbrella
- Alarm Clock
- Waste Paper Can
- Toiletries
- Shoes
- Pillow
- Laundry Basket or Bag

**If you decide to use a cordless phone, you may experience interference from other cordless phones. Based on the number of cordless phones in the building, the channels for reception may be shared which means other individuals may hear your conversations.
