Residence Director Position Description

The Residence Director is a live-in position, which supervises a residential community on campus. Each RD must be enrolled in the Shippensburg University Master of Science Counseling Program, on the college student personnel track. The graduate programs in the counseling department at Shippensburg University are CACREP approved. Each Residence Director is limited to 6 credit hours per semester and 3 credit hours per summer, thus making the position a three-year commitment.

Residence Directors are responsible for all aspects of their residential community. They supervise five to seven Resident Assistants, a Desk Assistant staff, advise hall council, adjudicate judicial hearings, serve as a liaison in maintaining the residential facility, as well as assist students with all aspects that ensure proper community living. Hiring preference will be given to individuals who are committed to multiculturalism, demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of student issues, and have past residence hall experience and/or leadership experience.
